In this age of cellphones and social media, we’re especially determined to stay engaged with our communities and keep kids involved with the sports we love. We’ve been in the business of outfitting families from the very beginning and we’ve had strong ties to the ski racing community since we opened the doors of the Caledon Pro Shop 40 years ago. From our past involvement with the Nancy Greene program, to the racer nights we host in our stores, and our Kids’ Half-Back Program, which keep skiing affordable for families; we're keen on keeping kids and families skiing.
This year, we’re thrilled to be sponsoring the Ontario Winter Games. Taking place in Orillia from March 1-4, these games bring together 3000 athletes to compete in 25 sports. This includes the Alpine and Para Alpine Skiing races at Blue Mountain and the Craigleith Ski Club, for which we are the official sponsor.
The benefits of participation in sport for kids are tremendous. From our conversations with Olympic Champions Chandra Crawford and Kelsey Serwa, we’ve had our own beliefs reinforced: sport really is a great tool for building confidence and connections. Through conversation with a then fourteen year old Sydney Mason, we saw how her participation in ski racing taught her the values of accountability, integrity and gratitude. And, we remain steadfast that in our belief that skiing is one few true family sports. Our own families—with members ranging from ages six to 60—show us time and again that it’s one of few outdoor activities that can be enjoyed together, across generations.
We’re proud to be involved with these games and can’t wait to see this next generation of great Canadian athletes in action.
